Human Design for Complementary Therapists

How can Human Design benefit your Natural Therapies Business?

Human design is becoming more mainstream and less Woo Woo. We ask Amber Clements from the Australian College of Human Design about how incorporating Human Design can benefit your Natural Therapies business and compliment your therapy offerings.

1. In this new emerging world, Human Design has become an important tool within business. Learning how to use your energy type to get the most out of your business is paramount. What are your Top 3 tips about how to use your energy type within your own complementary therapies business?

Human Design offers a powerful framework to help you work smarter, not harder by embracing your specific energy type. Below are my top 3 tips for using your design to flow with your business instead of forcing it:

  1. Align your workday with your natural energy flow by understanding how you can best manage your workload.

  2. Honour your type’s strategy for attracting clients through your natural way of drawing in the right opportunities instead of trying to market and sell in a way that drains you.

  3. Understand how your aura interacts with others to ensure you are fully utilising your natural gifts when providing services to others.
2. Making decisions is a daily occurrence, however sometimes we need to make big directional changes within our business. How can working with your Human Design authority type help you learn how to make your business decisions more effectively?

One of the most transformative aspects of Human Design is its ability to show us how we are uniquely designed to make good decisions. This is known as our inner authority—an internal guidance system that helps us tune into our body’s wisdom to determine what is truly right for us. Since there are several types of inner authority, the way we make decisions may differ greatly from those around us.

When we learn to trust this innate process, life begins to flow with greater ease, and we experience less resistance. Decision-making shifts from a place of mental pressure and overthinking to a deep sense of inner knowing. Rather than relying on logic alone, we can surrender to the intelligence of our body, allowing it to guide us toward choices that feel aligned and right for us.

This process is especially powerful in business, where decision-making can often feel stressful or overwhelming. By trusting our inner authority, we release the pressure of trying to mentally figure everything out or seeking external validation. Instead, we can confidently move forward, knowing that the answers we seek already exist within us.

3. Can you share some examples of where Human Design supports complementary therapies? i.e. Human Design + Naturopathy work well together. Life Coaching from a Human Design point of view.

Human Design is a deeply supportive tool for complementary therapies, offering valuable insights into each person’s unique energetic wiring. It serves as a map that helps practitioners understand an individual’s potential physical, emotional, and mental well-being, providing a framework for more personalised and effective healing.

By analysing a Human Design chart, we can identify areas where someone may be more vulnerable to external influences, prone to holding onto trauma, or feeling disconnected from themselves. This awareness allows practitioners to tailor their approach, working with a person’s natural design rather than against it.

Human Design integrates beautifully with many complementary therapies, for example:

  • Kinesiology & Human Design: These modalities work together to pinpoint where conditioning and misalignment may be manifesting in the body and energy field. Kinesiology techniques can then be used to release resistance, restore balance, and reinforce alignment with the person’s true design.

  • Life Coaching & Human Design: Coaches who incorporate Human Design can create tailored strategies based on how each client naturally operates. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, they can work with a client’s decision-making style, strengths, and challenges to support lasting transformation.

  • Naturopathy & Human Design: A naturopath can use Human Design to gain deeper insights into inherent physical susceptibilities and vulnerabilities, using this knowledge as a reference point when crafting personalised wellness plans for their clients.

The potential for integrating Human Design into complementary therapies is limitless. A person’s chart reveals where they are most susceptible to stress, pressure, and imbalance, while also providing insights into how they are designed to function at their best. By incorporating this wisdom, practitioners can help clients achieve deeper self-awareness, alignment, and long-term well-being.

4. Self-care within the complementary therapies industry is a non-negotiable. Because we give so much of ourselves within our work, it’s important for us to give back and fill our own cup. How do you see working with your specific energy type works well when knowing human design? Do you have any examples?

Human Design clearly shows us that we are meant to be different—each of us is uniquely wired and not designed to operate in the same way. By understanding our energy type, we gain deeper insight into how to care for ourselves, not based on societal expectations or what works for others, but in alignment with our own natural rhythms. When we recognise what truly supports our well-being, we can prioritise self-care without guilt or comparison, honouring what we need to feel sustainable, healthy, and aligned.

For instance, just over 30% of people are not designed to have consistent, sustainable energy. This can make it challenging to keep up with the other 70%, leading to frustration, burnout, or a constant feeling of falling behind. They may wonder why they need more rest, more time alone, or why they struggle with traditional work structures. Understanding that their design naturally requires more rest and a different work approach brings both relief and self-acceptance. Instead of pushing against their true nature, they can embrace their unique way of functioning and finally value themselves for who they are meant to be.

5. Where do you see Human Design going? What are the trends indicating about how Human Design is becoming more integrated into our daily lives and becoming less woo-woo and more the norm?

Since 2020, there has been a noticeable shift in self-awareness, with people becoming more intentional about their place in the world, more discerning about what they consume, and increasingly focused on finding deeper purpose in a rapidly changing society.

This growing need for clarity and self-trust has led to a surge in interest in Human Design, as it offers a practical way to tune into our own inner guidance at a time when external circumstances often feel uncertain. More than ever, people are open to discovering new ways to navigate life with greater alignment.

Receiving a Human Design chart is like being handed an owner’s manual for yourself. It reveals insights into your life path, decision-making process, natural gifts, and deeper purpose, helping you understand how to trust yourself fully. While some may initially approach it with skepticism, once they dive into their design, they often experience a profound sense of recognition and validation, feeling seen in a way they may never have before.

No longer confined to alternative wellness spaces, Human Design is rapidly moving into the mainstream, attracting individuals from all walks of life—including school teachers, lawyers, business coaches, psychologists, and professionals in every field—who recognise its value in fostering self-awareness and improving both personal and professional relationships.

I believe Human Design is on its way to becoming a universal language, much like astrology, where even those who don’t fully understand it are at least familiar with its concepts. As awareness grows, its potential impact expands—helping children thrive in schools, strengthening family dynamics at home, optimising teamwork in the workplace, and improving the way we relate to one another in every area of life. The more people gain access to this knowledge, the greater the opportunity for us all to live with more authenticity, ease, and connection.
