Chances are, if you're a Reiki practitioner, you have an incredible creative streak. Many holistic practitioners - particularly those of Reiki - can tap into their creative energy and let it flow to become a visually stunning result.
Since the business side of Reiki can sometimes seem daunting or tedious, the need to tap into that creativity is greater than ever when it comes to designing your business cards.
There are many examples of great business card designs online but we wanted to take a few minutes to give you some of our favourites and explain why they work.
First, though, it's important to keep in mind that your brand should be incorporated into your business cards. This means your website, social media pages, stationery, and other business-related correspondence should align with the styles and colours of your business cards.
Consistency is important for setting yourself apart in today's competitive market and by ensuring everything in your marketing toolbox is consistent, you further establish yourself as a sincere business-owner.
1. Keep It Simple
Almost any business card professional will advise you to keep things simple. With the convenience of technology literally at our fingertips nearly every second of the day, the need to include a slew of services you offer might be overkill. And, in truth, Reiki by its very nature is one of simple - if profound - healing so it would stand to reason a simple layout that provides only basic information would suit this profession. For example, Zazzle's Golden Lotus Chakra Pose card design is simple but elegant.
This design works because it is quite visual without being overbearing. The image is centered (how perfect?!) and leaves ample amount of space for your name, website address, and phone number or email. The basic information that won't overcrowd or overwhelm, but that every potential client will need to reach you or to find out more information about you.
2. Make It Memorable
Oftentimes, we will get business cards that are too basic with nothing special about them. You may get such business cards from government workers, educators, or managers. But Reiki is a special kind of practice and, thus, deserves to be presented as a special card.
This does not mean being extravagant in your budget for your design, but consider the Turquoise Healing Rays Hand Lightworker Business Card from Business Cards 101. This design is perfectly eye-catching without being gaudy or cliche. In fact, the softness of the turquoise blended with the rays of light, provide a memorable visual of the healing work provided by Reiki practitioners.
3. Provide a Call-To-Action (CTA)
Sometimes potential clients have a curiosity about Reiki - but a healthy amount of skepticism as well. As a practitioner, we are sure you have encountered this.
In such cases, one effective CTA would be a discount offer for a first-time treatment, such as seen on design #4 here. You can also use your cards to ask customers to follow you on social media, to subscribe to your newsletter or podcast, or to simply call and make an appointment.
4. Utilise Specialty Symbols
For those who are informed on manners of energy healing, having business cards that illustrate your own in-depth knowledge of energy, chakras, and the ancient arts can show potential clients that you know your stuff! For example, the use of traditional Usui Reiki Symbols serves the purpose of not only illustrating your knowledge but can also open up a dialogue with potential clients. (ie, "What does this symbol mean?).
Be mindful, however, that you don't overuse these symbols. As we've mentioned, keep it simple. This Reiki Symbols and Healing Hands design (again by zazzle.com), include the simple placement of traditional Reiki symbols in a tasteful way that allows for plenty of space around the appropriate visuals.
5. Be Unique
Everyone wants to be different and in business, that's a great thing! Why not let your business cards show your individuality by being just a little different than the rest. We don't mean flamboyant and loud. Rather, something as simple as changing the shape of your card to represent your own energy.
Rectangular cards are the norm, of course, but sharp corners may not align with the fluid gentleness of healing energy. Consider using something supple, soft, or illustrative of the healing you are providing. Not only does this set you apart, but it also helps your clients-to-be remember you because of your uniqueness in your presentation.
Whatever business card design you choose, there are some other general rules to make sure your business cards are uniquely yours and do your Reiki practice justice.
Get them Professionally Printed
While it may be tempting to print out your own business cards (or have a good friend or family member do it for you), having self-made business cards can give the wrong impression to your potential clients. We know you care about them, but they need to know you do. So by putting in a little extra time and capital towards your business cards, you show them that their impression of you is important.
Before pressing "order," make sure you double (even triple) check everything you are including on the card. If possible, have a friend do the same thing. It is terribly disappointing to design your perfect business card only to receive the order and see your name, website, or email address is misspelled or your phone number is inaccurate.
Be open to receiving feedback about your final design. It may feel like you've gained a lot of ground by completing your business card design but reach out to friends, family, and even colleagues to get honest feedback about the effectiveness of your cards. Invite them to be completely honest because, in the end, you want your business cards to reflect you and your services aptly.
